Could there be a flower waiting after traversing 16 months of grief?
Max Ribner explores this in ‘Beautiful Way,’ which turns a new corner from his recent multi-collaborative project feat. 50+ artists called ‘1st Language.’
During an internal and external wretched storm of grief, Max with horn in hand decided to commit walking a thin tightrope of facing one’s self. From the streets, to fires-sides, festivals & long car rides, this led to singing in communities all around North America. Often singing Max’s original tune, ‘Thank You for this Day.’ In some ways, it was the tears that felt like they were steering the direction leading from one community to the next.
These experiences both good and hard lead into ‘Beautiful Way.’ This song and concept is about the potency of facing each other and ‘finding our way back home’ in a time where society seems to be in fear of fully living. In serendipity, Max and his quartet joined forces with Cas Haley at Big Hope Studios, adjacent to a family farm in Paris Texas. Pulling on the strings of storytelling, Max draws influence from collaborators such as: Nahko & Medicine for the People, Rising Appalachia, Trevor Hall. Except this time, he is opening up his own voice.
